Wiper Patriotic Front Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced a 13-point agenda dubbed ‘the People’s Budget’ on Monday, August 10.

Kalonzo explained that the agenda was an alternative to President William Ruto’s Vision 2026. He argued that the country did not need a rebranding exercise but a government that remembers its word and keeps it.

He stated that the agenda was a covenant, not a slogan. It touches on key areas the Wiper Leader feels need to be addressed urgently.

At the top of the list is universal healthcare. Kalonzo promises a health system that works, unlike the Social Health Authority (SHA).

“Universal Healthcare that works. Not the SHA/SHIF fraud, but a system that guarantees every Kenyan dignity in illness,” the statement read in part.

The agenda also includes free and quality education from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to the university with bursaries and scholarships for every deserving child.

Kalonzo’s plan also included a living wage and dignified employment by reviving manufacturing, supporting agro-processing and creating millions of real jobs for the youth.

His agenda also included food security and stabilised agriculture, and a tax system that relieves the burden on the poor and makes the wealthy pay their fair share.

The Wiper Leader is also adamant on Constitutionalism and the rule of law, especially addressing the independence of state institutions.

“To restore the independence of Parliament, the Judiciary, the Police, the DCI, the EACC and all constitutional institutions,” the 13-point plan continued.

Other key points in the agenda include Devolution and County Empowerment, Youth and Women Empowerment, Infrastructure and Housing, Social Protection, Environmental and Climate Justice, Zero Tolerance for Corruption and National Unity and Reconciliation.

Meanwhile, Kalonzo reiterated that he had no intentions whatsoever of holding any discussions with President William Ruto to form a pre-election alliance.

“William Ruto, we say this plainly; the only national conversation Kenyans will have with you is at the ballot on August 10, 2027. There will be no handshake. No nusu mkaye,” he stated.
