Kenya currently has a Mobility Score of 75, with passport holders able to access 75 destinations without obtaining a visa in advance.
The report compiled by Passport Reports on September 17 shows that Kenya previously ranked 68th globally.
The new ranking places Kenya 10th among 54 African countries, behind Seychelles, Mauritius, South Africa, Botswana, Morocco, Lesotho, Namibia, Eswatini and Malawi.
Currently, Kenyan travellers require visas to enter 123 destinations, while 37 countries offer visa-free entry and 33 provide other forms of facilitated access.
This is even as five other destinations accept Kenyan travellers through electronic travel authorisation (eTA), giving the passport a worldwide access rate of 37.9 percent.
Despite the decline in its passport ranking, Kenya placed second among 199 countries in the welcoming ranking, which measures the entry access available to foreign visitors.
The report also revealed that citizens of 123 countries can enter Kenya through visa-free arrangements, electronic authorisation or visa-on-arrival procedures, while no countries are listed under the reverse category.

For Kenyan passport holders, the Caribbean offers the highest level of access at 81.3 per cent, followed by Africa at 71.7 per cent, Oceania at 57.1 per cent and North America at 52.2 per cent.
Access is lower in Asia at 28 per cent, South America at 16.7 per cent, the Middle East at 5.9 per cent and Europe at 2.1 per cent, according to the report.
The findings come nearly three years after President William Ruto announced on December 12, 2023, that Kenya would remove visa requirements for visitors entering the country.
He has also championed the removal of visa restrictions to boost trade and integration, moving toward visa-free travel for African citizens and introducing an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system for global visitors, while recently emphasizing that foreign workers and investors must fully comply with local laws.
The report also shows that Kenya ranked first among the four countries grouped under the Swahili language category, 43rd among 60 English-speaking countries and 40th among 56 Commonwealth countries.
