TSC to train teachers on AI tools, introduce online appraisals

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is planning to train teachers on artificial intelligence tools and introduce changes to its online appraisal system

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is planning to train teachers on artificial intelligence tools and introduce changes to its online appraisal system

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is planning to train teachers on artificial intelligence tools and introduce changes to its online appraisal system as part of efforts to strengthen the use of technology in education.

In a notice via MyGov on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the Commission invited interested and eligible bidders to provide services for teacher training on AI applications and the review, development, and deployment of its Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) online systems.

The Commission is seeking a consultant to retool teachers on digital capacity building, pedagogical innovation, artificial intelligence applications, data ethics, and practical AI tools for Competency-Based Education (CBE) in Kenya.

The training is expected to equip teachers with practical knowledge on emerging digital and AI tools in teaching, while also addressing issues such as data ethics.

TSC set Monday, October 12, 2026, as the deadline for expressions of interest for the teacher retooling project under tender number TSC/EOI/01/2026-2027.

The latest plans come shortly after TSC urged teachers enrolled in the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) to update their pension and beneficiary details and create digital access to their pension accounts.

Through the PSSF Member Self-Service Portal, teachers can access their pension statements and other account information, with TSC stating, “To access your Pension statements and other information about your PSSF account, please create your digital access by signing up on the PSSF Member Self-Service Portal. Then use the same credentials to sign in.”

TSC is also seeking a provider to review, develop, deploy and maintain its Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development online systems where the project is listed under tender number TSC/T/KPEEL/01/2026-2027 and carries a tender security requirement of Ksh160,000.

Alongside the teacher-focused projects, the Commission has invited bids for the provision of internet connectivity for virtual learning infrastructure in primary schools under the Kenya Primary Education Equity Learning Program.

The internet connectivity tender, listed under TSC/T/KPEEL/04/2026-2027, carries a Ksh36,000 bid security and is also scheduled to close on October 12 at 10:00 a.m.

The September 29 notice further included a request for consultancy services to deliver a School-Based Teacher Support System for English content and pedagogy to teachers in Grades 1 to 6 and Junior School Grades 7 to 9 across all 47 counties and refugee camp-based schools.

TSC said detailed tender documents can be obtained from its Supply Chain Management Services Division or accessed through its website and the Public Procurement Information Portal, with bidders required to submit their documents before the respective closing dates.
