Foreign couple found dead with gunshot wounds in suspected suicide case in Nairobi
Two foreign nationals were found dead with suspected gunshot wounds to the head inside an apartment along Chania Avenue in Kilimani, Nairobi.
Police said they believe the two, a Chinese man and a Vietnamese woman, died by suicide.
The deceased were identified as Nguyen Hong Ngoc, a Vietnamese woman, and Xu Zhiyu, a Chinese man.
The two lived together as a man and woman in an apartment where their bodies were found on Tuesday morning.
The motive was not immediately known. Nairobi police boss Issa Mohamud said they found a suicide note in the house, and it is under analysis as part of the probe into the incident.
It is also suspected one of the victims first shot and killed the colleague before turning the gun to himself, blowing the head, police said.
According to police, a manager at the apartment reported hearing gunshots from house A506 at around 10 a.m.
The apartment was reportedly locked from the inside and could not be accessed immediately. Police were called to the scene.

The apartment management subsequently opened the house using a spare key.
Inside, the officers found the two lifeless bodies seated side by side on a mattress in the sitting room, with suspected gunshot wounds to the head.
A BUL 9mm pistol, a magazine loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition, two spent 9mm cartridges and a handwritten note suspected to be a suicide note were recovered from the scene.
Crime Scene Investigation officers from Nairobi Region processed the apartment before the bodies were moved to Chiromo Funeral Parlour, where they await postmortem examinations.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths, the possible motive and ownership of the recovered firearm.
Police did not disclose what the two were engaged in.
Although investigators suspect a possible suicide pact, the circumstances of the deaths have not been conclusively established.
“We do not know what transpired leading to the incident, but experts are working on the issue,” said Mohamud.
