PS Mary Muthoni appointed to chair Africa CDC immunisation task force
Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni has been appointed chair of a task force under the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC)-led Continental Immunization Forum.
In a letter dated October 15, 2026, Africa CDC Director General Jean Kaseya appointed Muthoni to lead Task Force 4, which focuses on country alignment, partnerships and delivery acceleration.
The appointment tasks Muthoni with strengthening coordination between African countries and development partners, promoting country ownership of immunisation programmes and improving accountability in the delivery of vaccination initiatives.
She will also support efforts to align strategic partners, draw on regional implementation experience to address challenges and ensure that partnerships respond to the specific needs of individual countries.
“In this role, you will support strategic partner alignment, country ownership and delivery acceleration; bring implementation and regional experience to problem-solving; promote mutual accountability; and help ensure that partnerships respond to differentiated country needs. You will work with Member States and partners, respecting country ownership and existing African Union governance arrangements,” reads the letter in part.
