Four children rescued from a child trafficker in a bedsitter
Four minors aged between 1 and 17 Years were rescued from a child trafficker following a multi-agency operation by National Police Service (NPS) officers.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), officers from the agency, alongside their colleagues from the Kenya Police Service (KPS) and Administration Police Service (APS), arrested a suspected notorious child trafficker on Friday, September 3.
The suspect, Enock Peterson Mwangi alias Mwamburi, was nabbed at Korompoi Trading Centre in Isinya Sub-County.
“The suspect was arrested following investigations into his involvement in child trafficking.
“At the time of his arrest, four minors aged between one and seventeen years were rescued from a bedsitter where the suspect was residing,” DCI said in a statement.
The DCI is looking into the state of the minors, who they suspect may have been subjected to other forms of abuse.
“They have since been taken to hospital and thereafter placed in safe custody as relevant agencies undertake the necessary interventions and investigations,” the agency wrote.

Mwangi was taken into police custody, where he will be processed before he is arraigned in court to face appropriate charges.
The investigative agency claimed that the suspect was operating the child-trafficking ring in Kajiado and Nakuru Counties, among others.
Detectives are pursuing further leads to establish the full extent of his activities and whether other children may have fallen victim to the suspected criminal network.
The DCI reminded members of the public that Child trafficking is a grave crime and warned that anyone involved would be arrested and prosecuted.
‘Child trafficking robs children of their innocence, safety and future. Those involved in the trafficking, exploitation or abuse of children, as well as those who facilitate such crimes, are hereby put on notice that law enforcement agencies will relentlessly pursue them and bring them to justice,” the agency wrote.
