My children have been harassed, humiliated; Raphael Tuju
Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has disclosed that his children have been subjected to harassment and humiliation, saying he had previously kept the matter private but decided to speak about it publicly during Kalonzo Musyoka’s Ukombozi tour in Bondo, Siaya County.
Speaking on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at St Michael’s All Angels Cathedral in Bondo during Kalonzo’s Siaya tour, Tuju said his family had been going through difficult circumstances and asked Christians to pray for his children.
“My own children right now are going through a lot of a lot of tribulations,” Tuju said.
He said that while he had developed the strength to cope with his own difficulties through his faith, he was concerned about the impact of those difficulties on his children.
“I can manage it. I’m strong enough to manage it through my faith. But my children need prayers,” he said.
Tuju said he had deliberately avoided discussing the matter publicly until Sunday, September 27, 2026.
“I’ve not gone public with this. This is the first time I’m talking about it in public, but my children have been harassed, humiliated in so many ways,” he said.
He did not provide details of the harassment or identify the people or institutions he believes were responsible.
Tuju said his family had nevertheless remained strong because of their faith.
“But we stay strong as a family because of the grace of God and may God be praised,” he said.

His remarks come after the Supreme Court allowed judges who had previously recused themselves from a long-running dispute involving Tuju, his family, Dari Limited and the East African Development Bank to resume handling the case. The court said circumstances surrounding the earlier recusal had changed after complaints filed with the Judicial Service Commission were withdrawn.
Tuju also used the occasion to ask the congregation to pray for Kalonzo Musyoka and his family.
He said Kalonzo’s wife had been unwell and praised the Wiper leader for continuing to travel across the country for his political campaign.
“I think I have another prayer item that I wanted to request the church to pray for his Excellency Kalonzo Musyoka,” Tuju said.
“He has his wife who has been unwell for some time, and through all this he still has the strength to go around the country campaigning.”
