Man arrested after trying to force his way into State House Nairobi
A man was arrested after allegedly attempting to force his way into the restricted area of the State House Gate D in Nairobi on Sunday afternoon.
According to reports, the General Service Unit (GSU) officers who were manning the gate noticed the man attempting to gain entry into the restricted area.
According to the police, the suspect was driving a tuk-tuk when he allegedly tried to force his way through the gate.
Officers reported that they ordered him to stop, but he allegedly failed to comply and continued at high speed towards barriers near the entrance.
During questioning, police reported that the man told the officers that he wanted to meet President William Ruto, despite not having an official appointment to see him.
He was placed in custody as investigations continued, with officers interrogating him to establish his intentions and the circumstances that led to the attempted entry.
Further, security operations were mounted in the area as authorities moved to establish whether there was a wider security concern.

At the time of publication, it was not immediately clear whether the President was at State House at the time of the incident.
The incident comes less than a week after State House issued a public warning against a man it said had been falsely presenting himself as a representative of the President and First Lady Rachel Ruto.
In a notice published in a local newspaper on October 1, State House said Eliel Cheruiyot Kispang was an authorised representative, agent or employee of the Executive Office of the President and First Lady Rachel Ruto.
The notice issued by State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito warned the public against transacting with Kipsang, saying he has no authority to make representations, receive money, enter into any agreements, or make any commitment on behalf of the President and First Lady Rachel Ruto.
The latest incident also comes nearly a year after another security incident at the same State House Gate along Dennis Pritt Road, where a man allegedly attacked a GSU officer with a bow and arrow at the gate, with the officer later dying from his injuries in hospital.
