A newly surfaced CCTV recording has captured the terrifying moments an armed attacker stormed a salon in Ruaka, Kiambu County, sparking panic among clients and bystanders before fleeing with stolen valuables.
The two-minute clip, documents an incident that occurred on Friday, July 10, at approximately 2 p.m., in broad daylight along a busy stretch of the surburb.
In the footage, a man dressed in green overalls, a black hat, and a mask covering his face is seen approaching the salon on foot before brandishing a pistol. He immediately confronts two women seated outside the premises, ordering them to hand over their phones.
Startled by the sight of the weapon, the two women began screaming, drawing the attention of people nearby. In response, the armed man fired a warning shot, sending bystanders scattering in different directions.
Amid the chaos, one of the two women was forced by the attacker into the salon at gunpoint, while the other managed to break free and escape the ordeal after surrendering her phone.
A separate CCTV camera inside the salon captured the attack as it unfolded. The footage shows six other people inside the premises scrambling to find hiding places after being alarmed by the commotion outside, as the gunman made his way into the building.
Upon entering, the attacker seized one of the women present, forcibly pulled her to the ground, and demanded she surrender her phone along with any other valuables she had on her.
As the confrontation unfolded inside, the noise and screams from within the salon began attracting a crowd outside, with concerned onlookers gathering to witness the unfolding scene.

Sensing the growing attention and the risk of being cornered, the attacker made a swift decision to abandon the robbery and flee the premises.
In his escape, he discharged his firearm into the air multiple times, apparently to keep bystanders at bay and clear his path out of the building.
Once outside, the assailant leapt onto a motorbike that had been waiting for him nearby, suggesting a level of planning behind the attack, before speeding off from the scene, as one of the ladies chased after him, but to no avail.
Speaking about the ordeal, one of the victims said the attacker’s demeanour and the weapon he carried set him apart from a typical thief, adding that despite the terrifying encounter, he only made off with a single phone belonging to one of the salon’s clients.
“This did not look like an ordinary theft mission owing to how it was executed. Luckily, not much was stolen from it, just one phone from our clients,” stated the victim.
As of the time of the publication of this story, no arrests have been made.
