President Ruto confronts Governor Mutai after commotion during rally in Kericho
President William Ruto on Friday, September 11, confronted Kericho Governor Eric Mutai after a commotion erupted during a rally in Kipkelion West, Kericho County.
The incident occurred after President Ruto had addressed the Kericho residents and invited one of the politicians to give his remarks.
However, a commotion broke out where Governor Mutai was standing, forcing President Ruto to intervene.
The Head of State told Governor Mutai and his deputy, Fredrick Kirui, to stop disrupting the rally.
“The Deputy Governor and Governor Mutai, you are disrupting the meeting,” President Ruto said.
President Ruto is currently on a four-day development tour to Kericho and Bomet Counties.
President Ruto began the tour on Wednesday, September 9, in Bomet County, where he inspected ongoing works at Itembe Airstrip.
He then launched the modern County Assembly of Bomet main chamber and the Dr Joyce Laboso Mother and Child Hospital in Longisa.
The Head of State also commissioned the Bomet Affordable Housing Project and new road networks within the county.

On Thursday, President Ruto toured Kericho County where he launched new projects across the county, including the 53-kilometer Sabunit-Kapkondor-Hill Tea Access Road in Kipkelion East and the Kapkatet Modern Market.
He also launched the construction of the 10,000-capacity Kapkatet Stadium, which is scheduled to be completed in 2027.
“Also launched the construction of the KSh1.1 billion Kapkatet Stadium, which will be completed early next year. The 10,000-capacity facility will feature a six-lane running track, a standard football pitch and other modern sporting facilities,” Ruto wrote on his X account.
The President is scheduled to have stops at Ainamoi, Torit Junction and Boito Konoin on Friday.
On Saturday, President Ruto will visit Chebunyo in Bomet before heading to Kericho town, where he will conclude his South Rift development tour.
