Ruto appoints Duncan Ojwang IPOA Chair, Sossion and Lentoijoni to TSC
President William Ruto has appointed Duncan Oburu Ojwang as the new Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) for a six-year term.
In a Gazette Notice dated August 31, 2026, President Ruto made the appointment under the Independent Policing Oversight Authority Act.
Ojwang will take over leadership of IPOA for the next six years as the authority continues its mandate to provide civilian oversight of the National Police Service.
The President also appointed Antonina Lentoijoni and Wilson Sossion as members of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for a six-year term.
Their appointments were made under Article 250(2) of the Constitution, read together with Section 8(10) of the Teachers Service Commission Act, and the two will join the commission that oversees the management and regulation of teachers in Kenya’s public education system.
In a separate appointment, Ruto named Flora Nduku Mutua as a member of the Public Service Commission (PSC) for a six-year term.

The latest appointments come days after Ruto made another round of changes to key government bodies through a Gazette Notice issued on August 28.
In that notice, retired Major General William Karisa Shume was appointed Non-Executive Chairperson of the Advisory Committee on Military Veterans for four years, effective August 28, 2026.
The August 28 Gazette Notice also contained appointments to the National Research Fund, the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation and the Kenya Medical Training College Board.
The latest changes add to a series of appointments placing new leadership and members in various public institutions as their respective mandates continue.
The new appointees are expected to see the respective institutions continue to implement their constitutional and statutory responsibilities under fresh or renewed leadership.
