President William Ruto has departed for Moscow, Russia, to attend the Third Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, where he will seek expanded markets for Kenyan exports and attract investments to create jobs.

According to a statement by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed on October 27, Ruto will advance Kenya’s economic and strategic interests, focusing on market access, investment and partnerships to support economic transformation.

As the African Union champion on the African Continental Free Trade Area, Ruto will seek greater market access for African tea, coffee, cut flowers, fresh produce and value-added products.

He will also pursue investments in agro-processing, manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, as well as partnerships in artificial intelligence, digital innovation and technology transfer.

The engagements are expected to explore opportunities to equip young people with emerging skills, support businesses and strengthen Kenya’s digital economy.

Ruto will also seek affordable agricultural inputs and partnerships to strengthen food security.

At the Africa–Russia Business Roundtable, the President will position Kenya as a competitive investment destination and a gateway to African markets, promoting joint ventures and commercial partnerships aimed at strengthening local industries, creating employment and increasing the value of Kenyan exports.

The forum will also provide an opportunity for African leaders to engage Russia on global peace, regional security challenges, peaceful resolution of conflicts and regional stability.

According to the statement, the discussions will focus on Africa’s priorities, including reforms to global governance, stronger representation in international decision-making and equitable partnerships based on mutual respect and sovereign equality.

The African group will also advocate cooperation to advance industrialisation, economic transformation and shared prosperity.

On the sidelines of the forum, Ruto is expected to meet Heads of State and Government, international organisations, financial institutions and major corporations to mobilise investment, unlock new markets and secure partnerships to support Kenya’s economic transformation.
