Goons raid hotel in Homa Bay ahead of Linda Mwananchi rally
A hotelier in Homa Bay town is counting losses after a group of youth raided the Homa Bay Tourist Hotel on Saturday evening and destroyed property of unknown value.
According to a report made to the police by the hotel manager Robert Odongo, the said youth invaded the hotel at around 8 pm, where they shattered windows, destroyed furniture and other equipment, and carted away some items.
Police confirmed the vandalism and theft of hotel items, adding that by the time they got to the hotel, the vandals had left on motorbikes.
The incident comes ahead of the planned Linda Mwananchi rally in Homa Bay County led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

Early images from Nyandiwa in Homa Bay showed blocked roads and running battles between two opposing factions ahead of the rally.
Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has warned the Linda Mwananchi team against taking the ‘useless wantam’ slogans to Homa Bay County, saying everything they will be using has been built by President William Ruto.
“When you come to Homa Bay, please remember the airstrip, the piers and the roads you land, anchor and drive on as you shout your useless “wantam” political slogans have been built by President William Ruto. Your Gachagua and Uhuru built nothing here and never cared to know we exist,” Kaluma warned.
