Governor Lenku heckled during Ruto's tour in Kajiado County
President William Ruto was forced to intervene after residents of Oloitoktok Town heckled Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku on Thursday, September 3.
Ruto invited Ole Lenku to address the crowd, which began chanting and waving their hands in protest.
The County Chief, who has been linked to the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), struggled to address the people amid the loud jeers.
“Mr President, we thank you, and we welcome you to Kajiado. This KMTC Campus and Affordable Housing Program will uplift Oloitoktok’s status,” Ole Lenku said before he was cut short.
“Please, I am pleading with you, let us allow the Governor to say something briefly,” President Ruto intervened.
Despite the intervention, the crowd continued heckling Ole Lenku.
He dismissed the hostile crowd, saying the noise of a handful of people would not make any difference.

On the other hand, the people broke into jubilation when Ruto introduced State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Mitito. Their warm reception excited the President.
“I am also here with Katoo Ole Mitito. Do you know him? You have a plan for him? Which one, for Governor?” Ruto posed as the crowd responded in the affirmative.
The awkward moment between Governor Ole Lenku and the Oloitoktok residents came a day after the former was summoned by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).
NCIC said it has summoned the Kajiado County Chief over the remarks he made on August 22 in Kajiado West Constituency. Lenku was directed to appear before the commission’s offices at Britam Towers Upper Hill on September 17, at 2:00 PM.
The Commission warned the governor that failure to honour the summons would force it to seek a warrant of arrest.
NCIC also summoned Nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Joseph Wainaina Iraya over controversial statements made in Kapseret Constituency, Uasin Gishu County.
Meanwhile, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku appeared before the NCIC on Tuesday over allegedly making inflammatory remarks.
