Kalonzo discloses planned Monday meeting with Uhuru Kenyatta
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has revealed that he is scheduled to hold a meeting with former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday, August 3, as the opposition intensifies consultations ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a press briefing on Thursday, July 30, alongside Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and members of the Lina Mwanchi brigade, Kalonzo said the meeting will form part of ongoing engagements within the opposition as leaders seek to strengthen their unity.
The Wiper leader disclosed the planned meeting while dismissing speculation that he had secretly met President William Ruto during his recent trip to Tanzania.
“I was in Zanzibar after having a breakfast meeting with editors on Tuesday morning. Yesterday I took a boat from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam. I was leaving Dar this morning at 5. I want to assure all the citizens of this country that I will be the last man to drive Ruto out,” Kalonzo declared.
He added that videos circulating online alleging he had visited the State House were fabricated.
“When we saw those videos of you in State House, we were very shocked, but I told Kenyans, these are false stories. Our stand is that we are going to be with the people,” Kalonzo said.
The opposition leader further insisted that he would not work with Ruto, saying the contest between them would be settled at the ballot in the 2027 General Election.

“I want to tell Ruto, please stop imagining that Kalonzo Musyoka can ever join you. We will meet at the ballot. We will have that conversation at the ballot on the 10th of August next year, God willing,” he stated.
Kalonzo also revealed that he had written to Senate Speaker Amason Kingi in his capacity as Azimio party leader, protesting recent leadership changes in Parliament that affected Sifuna.
“The way they rushed these changes to remove Edwin Sifuna as a minority deputy whip was simply an unfortunate conspiracy,” he said.
The Wiper leader argued that the opposition had entered the election season and accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of becoming increasingly uneasy as campaigns draw closer.
“We enter the election year in August. We have no time, and this is why Ruto has panicked together with his team,” Kalonzo claimed.
He further urged opposition supporters to remain united, expressing confidence that the coalition was experiencing what he described as a ‘2002 moment,’ a reference to the united opposition that defeated the then-ruling party in the 2002 General Election.
