KUCCPS releases 2025 KCSE University and TVET placement results; How to check
The government has released the long-awaited Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) placement results for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates, paving the way for thousands of students to join universities, colleges and technical institutions.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced that a total of 293,869 students had been successfully placed in various institutions for the 2025/2026 academic cycle, a sharp increase from the annual average of about 70,000 placements recorded in previous years.
The Education CS further announced that the inter-institution transfer window has been extended from two weeks to one month to give students more time to request changes to their placements where necessary.
Of those placed, 202,133 secured admission to degree programmes, while 28,246 were placed at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
Another 500 students secured places in Diploma in Law (Paralegal) programmes, 765 were admitted to Kenya Utalii College, and 875 were placed in secondary Teacher Training College (TTC) programmes.
For the first time, KUCCPS has placed students to Kenya Utalii College through the central placement system, marking an expansion of institutions available to applicants.
Ogamba also revealed that 8,915 candidates who qualified for degree programmes opted instead to pursue Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses, reflecting growing interest in skills-based education.

How to check placement
Students can now log into their KUCCPS accounts to confirm the institutions and courses they have been allocated. The portal displays the university or college where a student has been placed together with the programme they will pursue.

He also directed universities and colleges to immediately begin preparing and issuing admission and joining instructions to successful applicants to facilitate a smooth transition into higher learning institutions.
“Following the conclusion of the placement, the Higher Education Financing portal is now open for first-time applicants,” Ogamba announced, allowing newly placed students to begin applying for government scholarships and loans.
According to the ministry, 980,535 candidates who sat the 2025 KCSE examination were eligible to apply for placement, with 270,508 attaining the minimum C+ grade required for admission into degree programmes.
KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr Agnes Mercy Wahome said the placement exercise accounted for 81 percent of all students who attained a C+ and above in the 2025 KCSE examination, noting that applications continued to outstrip available capacity in some competitive courses.
She revealed that while 6,500 students applied for Bachelor of Medicine programmes, universities had capacity for only 702 students.
