Ruto appoints new chairpersons of state parastatals

President William Ruto has appointed Benson Gichuhi Njoroge as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation (KALRO).

The Head of State made the appointment vide Gazette Notice dated Friday, August 7, stating that his appointment takes effect immediately.

Njoroge replaces businessman Dr Thuo Mathenge, whose appointment was revoked in July. Mathenge has since decamped to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s DCP.

He also announced the re-appointment of Lucy Waruingi as the Chairperson of the Governing Board of the Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund, for a period of three years.

Elsewhere, Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir appointed Mohamed Rahid Abdille as a member of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority Board of Directors. Abdille will serve for three years effective immediately.

CS Chirchir also re-appointed Anna Robai Makawa, Dominic Kipkoech Koskei and Annastacia Mumbua Musyimi as members of the Board of Directors of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority for a period of three years.

Gender CS Hannah Cheptumo appointed Caroline Jerobon Rotich as a member of the National Lottery Board, for a period of three years.

On the other hand, Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui announced Aaron Nanok’s appointment as the Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Trade Remedies Agency, for a period of three years.

In the Education sector, CS Julius Ogamba confirmed that Ezra Maritim, Lawrence Muchlwa, Susan Kiragy and McOkwiri Kevin Juma will continue to serve as the Non-Executive Chairperson and Members of the Council of the Open University of Kenya until 2029.

CS Ogamba appointed Fatuma Abdi to be a Member of the Council of Laikipia University for a period of three years, while Dr David Gikungu was named as a member of the Council of Meru University of Science and Technology.

On her part, Tourism Boss Rebecca Miano appointed Robert Kinyanjui Wainaina a Member of the Governing Board of the Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund on a three-year term.
