Gachagua to make major announcement tomorrow ahead of long US tour

DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua has notified his supporters of an upcoming presser on Monday, August 24, in which he will present the resolutions of the meetings he has had in his Wamunyoro residence for over a month.
Gachagua retreated to his home in Nyeri County in June, hosting delegations from various demographics and regions in his wider strategy to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.
Speaking in a church service in Karatina, Nyeri County, on Sunday, August 23, Gachagua noted that he had completed 56 days of negotiations, hosting the last groups on Monday ahead of the presser.
He said he would be meeting representatives from Isiolo and Marsabit, what he now calls Mt Kenya North, and young Kenyans before he makes the announcement.

“I have been in Wamunyoro in the last 56 days listening to Kenyans, assessing where the country is going, what they want, and how we will be forming the sixth regime. Monday (August 24) will be the last day of the engagements. I will be hosting people from Mt Kenya North, Isiolo, and Marsabit, and later listen to Gen Zs,” he said.
Gachagua noted that the engagements will culminate in the presser later in the afternoon.
“At around 3 pm, I will call a press conference to announce to Kenyans what we have heard, and the way forward as directed by Kenyans,” he said.
At the same time, Gachagua revealed that he would be embarking on a trip to the United States starting Wednesday, August 26, accompanied by his wife, Dorcas Rigathi.
Whilst he was not explicit on the details of the upcoming trip, Gachagua said it would be part of his strategy to plot against Ruto.
According to him, he needs a conducive setting in which to make major decisions far from distractions, and hence the US offers that.
“I will be travelling with my wife to the US to go meet Americans and Kenyans living there. We will be out for some time, so take care of home. I will stay for a while, and there is a reason for that. There are things I am planning, and I can’t do it from here. I don’t want confusion from the likes of John Methu and Kaguchia. I want to make some decisions without undue influence from those working with me,” he said.
