Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has revealed he has received an invitation to join the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has revealed he has received an invitation to join the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Speaking during an interview on Wednesday, August 26, Sakaja said many of the ODM officials and members have urged him to join the party.

The Nairobi County boss noted that he has had a series of meetings with ODM MPs, party officials, youth and women.

“Many officials and members want me to join their ODM party. There have been meetings; the youth met recently, there were meetings with women, and I have also sat down with some of their Members of Parliament,” Sakaja stated.

Governor Sakaja said he is considering the invitation to join ODM and would make a decision at the right time.

“It is something I am listening to, and it is also important to look at what the people are saying. If that is what they want, then I am their servant,” he said.

Further, Governor Sakaja said he will only be in a party that supports President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027.

“To be honest, from the bottom of my heart, from what I have seen of our President’s work, there have been challenges here and there, but I have never seen a President who has dedicated himself to serving the people like William Ruto.

“I support him, and whichever party I join will be a party that supports him,” Sakaja said.

His remarks come a day after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua claimed that Sakaja wants to join ODM.

Speaking on Tuesday, August 25, at the DCP party headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, Gachagua said he wishes Sakaja all the best.

“I have heard that Sakaja wants to join the Oburu-led ODM party. We wish you well. But ODM is a shell,” the former Deputy President said.
