Kenya Airways says it lost over Ksh.904 million during three-day strike

National carrier Kenya Airways (KQ) says it lost more than US$7 million, equivalent to over Ksh. 904.7 million, following a three-day industrial action that disrupted aviation operations.

The airline says the losses included lost revenue as well as costs related to passenger accommodation, meals, transportation and flight rebooking.

During the disruption, KQ cancelled 63 flights and recorded more than 160 flight delays, with average delays exceeding six hours.

The airline also says more than 370 tonnes of fresh produce and meat could not be uplifted during the disruption.

The industrial action was resolved on Tuesday after the signing of a Return-to-Work Agreement involving the Central Organisation of Trade Unions, the Kenya Aviation Workers Union, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority and the government.

Kenya Airways says normal operations have since resumed, with its full flight schedule restored and backlogs cleared.
