KNEC sets conditions for the collection of March TVET exam results

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the release of the March 2026 Business and Technical examination results, setting out conditions that institutions must meet before collecting the results.

In a notice issued on Monday, the council said the results are ready for collection by heads of institutions at New Mitihani House in South C, Nairobi, during weekdays between 8am and 5pm.

However, Knec said institutions must first clear any outstanding examination fee arrears before the results can be released.

“Please ensure all examination fee arrears are cleared prior to collection,” the council said in the notice.

The council also directed institutions to submit any result queries within 30 days of the release.

It warned that applications lodged after August 9, 2026, will attract a Sh5,000 fee.

According to the notice, all result queries must be submitted online through KNEC’s Query Management Information System (QMIS).

The latest announcement concerns candidates who sat the March 2026 Business and Technical examinations, which are administered to learners pursuing technical and vocational training in accredited institutions across the country.

The examinations are taken by post-school candidates enrolled in National Polytechnics, Technical Training Institutes (TTIs), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions and Vocational Training Centres.

KNEC administers the examinations under the Business and Technical Examinations Programme (BTEP) and the Business and Vocational Training Examinations (BVTET), which assess trainees in a wide range of technical, business and vocational disciplines.

The examinations are designed to equip learners with practical and occupational skills while providing progression pathways from Certificate to Diploma and Higher Diploma qualifications.

Candidates who successfully complete Diploma programmes become eligible to pursue degree courses at universities and other recognised higher learning institutions.

The release of the March examination results comes just days after Knec opened registration for the November 2026 Business and Technical examinations.

During the registration announcement, the council said there will be no late registration period and reminded institutions that payment of examination fees and online submission of candidate details alone do not constitute successful registration.

It also emphasised that candidates must meet the minimum entry requirements for their respective courses and that heads of institutions are responsible for ensuring all registration details submitted to the council are accurate and complete.

Institutions were further directed to upload candidates’ photographs through the registration portal for identity verification during examination administration and advised that repeat candidates should not register for both referred papers and subsequent modules in the same examination series.
