MP Kaluma sends warning to Babu Owino ahead of planned visit to Nyanza
Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma drew the line ahead of DCP Leader Rigathi Gachagua’s planned visit to Luo Nyanza.
Speaking in Nyatike on Friday, September 4, Kaluma warned his Embakasi East counterpart, Babu Owino, against trying to sell Gachagua in the region.
He maintained that the region had already decided to support President William Ruto’s re-election and called for Babu to respect that decision.
“It does not matter how many times you visit our land; we will remain in the ODM party. I want to request James Orengo and Babu Owino: please do not sell Gachagua in our land.
“You can go if you want to, but leave our people united. Some lines have now been drawn; do not abuse Governor Ochilo Ayako or our National Chairperson,” Kaluma stated.
Nonetheless, he maintained that the people of Luo Nyanza are peaceful and stated that anyone was welcome to the region to say whatever they please as long as they remained respectful and didn’t use goons.
On her part. Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga maintained that ODM was firmly in the broad-based government. She boasted that the United Opposition was no match for a UDA-ODM joint ticket.

“I have worked with most of the leaders in the Opposition and, as per my calculations, those people have no formula to beat the Broad-based government led by William Ruto. We will win by 8 a.m,” Wanga reiterated.
Kaluma’s sentiments came days after Gachagua claimed that Babu Owino had invited him to tour the Nyanza Region.
The DCP Leader confirmed that he would visit all Luo Nyanza Counties once he returns from his trip to the United States of America.
Gachagua added that before his tour, he would hold a media engagement with local TV and radio stations, where he would explain to the people how they would benefit if they supported his presidential bid.
The former DP maintained that there was no bad blood between him and the Luo Community, and promised to visit Kango Ka Jaramogi to pay his last respects to departed ODM Leader Raila Odinga.
