No one can remove me from my Deputy President position – Kindiki

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said he will defend his position and remain in office, drawing comparisons with the political challenges that President William Ruto faced before rising to the presidency.

Speaking on Friday, August 21, he recalled the attempts to remove Ruto from his position, saying the efforts failed because his supporters remained firm until the end. 

Kindiki said political leaders who were removed from office were not influential, insisting that he would not allow a similar fate to befall him.

“You know, towards the end, our President fell out with his boss, but they tried to remove William Ruto and failed. We stood firm until the very end.

“Those who were removed were not influential. Do you think anyone can remove me from my seat? I cannot leave; I will defend myself,” he said.

Elsewhere, this comes days after Kindiki hit back at DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua over repeatedly mocking his voice.

In a statement on Sunday, August 16, he accused Gachagua of lacking meaningful contributions to politics, policy and leadership.

“Mr Rigathi, talking about my voice is the only contribution your emptiness and incompetence can make in matters of politics, policy and leadership,” Kindiki wrote. 

The Deputy President said he will not be drawn into a personal exchange with his predecessor or discuss his physical structure. 

“You can mock my voice all you want. But I won’t stoop to your lowly level by trying to respond or by discussing your not-so-great anatomy,” Kindiki stated. 

At the same time, Kindiki said he will not allow Gachagua to mislead Mt Kenya residents through political slogans and chants.

“I will not allow you to mislead the people of Mount Kenya with your useless slogans and chants. I like the way you underestimate me,” he said.
