CS Rebecca Miano responds to claims of goons attack on her way to work
Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Rebecca Miano has dismissed claims that she was attacked by goons on her way to work.
The CS was responding to footage, which has since gone viral, showing unknown individuals attacking passengers inside a vehicle in an apparent road-rage incident.
The video was later circulated online with claims that the woman involved was Miano.
Miano responded to the claims on Monday, August 31, dismissing them as fake and urging the public to ignore the reports.
“Fake news and rumours spread like bushfire. Please, just ignore and have a fruitful week,” Miano stated.
Typically, state officials in the country, especially Cabinet Secretaries, travel with a modest security detail. Government guidelines entitle each to at least one or two armed police bodyguards, who accompany them during transit for personal protection.

Separately, official directives, including measures introduced by the National Treasury, have sought to curb excess public resource use by restricting Cabinet Secretaries’ motorcades to a maximum of two official vehicles on the road: the lead vehicle, a lead car clearing traffic and hazards, the VIP vehicle shielded in the middle, and a chase car blocking rear threats.
A closer deep-dive into the viral fact-checking desk shows no presence of any detailed security guards, nor any response from a security figure, thus raising further questions on whether CS Miano was there or not.
Additionally, there was no presence of the lead vehicle in the footage, leaving the people in the car fully exposed to the attackers.
Of essence is that the vehicle lacked the national flag at the front to indicate protocol and to signify official authority, rank, and the presence of high-level state representation. thus further raising more questions on the true identity of the persons in the viral video.
