I went to Murkomen’s office but he refused to meet me; Wamuchomba
Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has claimed that Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen recently refused to meet her when she visited his office.
Speaking during a press conference on Monday, August 31, 2026, Wamuchomba criticised Murkomen’s approach to the interior docket, arguing that the ministry requires a leader who can separate political interests from matters of national security.
“The other day, I went to his office. He refused to see me,” Wamuchomba said, linking the snub to a previous disagreement between the two leaders in Parliament.
She recalled an earlier parliamentary exchange in which she questioned Murkomen over the alleged dumping of bodies at a dam site in Kwale, saying she rejected what she considered an inadequate response from the Interior CS.
“I protested. From that time, Murkomen cannot even say hi to me because he thinks I am not supposed to be asking such a question,” she claimed.

Wamuchomba went on to question Murkomen’s suitability to head the Interior Ministry, accusing him of approaching the sensitive security docket as a politician.
“Murkomen can never be the right person for the Interior docket. He is just a small politician in the street,” she said.
The MP further claimed that Murkomen was an obstacle to efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths of women whose bodies she claimed were dumped at the Kware dam.
She also accused the Interior CS of interfering with the arrest of health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale after his recent remarks that made him be summoned by the NCIC , claiming that political and personal relationships between the two were the ones affecting security operations.
Wamuchomba warned that the country could face increased political and security tensions ahead of the next general election if Murkomen remains in charge of the Interior Ministry.
“If you are going to go into an election with Murkomen as the minister, trust me, this country is going to be in total chaos,” she said.
